Use 'IDrive Lite' to backup and restore contacts* from/to your BlackBerry.

Backup
Install the IDrive Lite app and sign up for an account. Your contacts are automatically backed up to it. In case you modify your contact information, tap the 'Backup' button to backup the same.
 
Restore
In case you lose or delete a contact and would like to restore it from your online account, select the 'Restore' tab and use any of the below options . 

Restore All 
Allows you to restore all your backed up contacts. 

Restore selected contacts
Allows you to select the contacts to be restored. 

Restore from other device(s)
Allows you to restore contacts from another BlackBerry or iPhone device. 

Restore contacts from another account 
Allows you to import contacts to your mobile device from another IDrive Lite account.

 Restore from earlier versions 
Allows you to restore contacts backed up earlier to your account.  
  
Web access
 
Login at www.idrivelite.com to manage your contacts via the web You can add, edit or delete contact information, import contacts from Facebook and view logs of the activities performed from the website and the application.

* While each contact can have up to 40 or more pieces of information based on the device type, OS version etc, due to certain API limitations, only key pieces of information related to a contact are backed up.

Good but google is free too.

Good service! But is this only for contacts because google gmail contacts is also free. I am using phonebakup that back up contacts, and tasks, memolist, calendar and only to my own email address more control than sharing it with other third party.

I used this app to effortlessly move all of my contacts from one bb to another. It was absolutely quicker and simpler than using the bb desktop manager.
